It is a disease of the respiratory system. It affects lungs and air passages of one’s body.
People experience difficulties in breathing normally. It may affect people of any age group.
Childhood asthma – a severe respiratory problem identified and indicated by inflammation ( swelling). Air passages get narrow which lead to wheezing sound , coughing. A person experiences difficulties in breathing normally. It is associated with various environmental factors. Children are especially at risk when exposed to outdoor air pollution.
Symptoms related to asthma-
Some very common symptoms are
- Wheezing ( a very intense sound produced while coughing).
- Tightness around the chest.
- Breath shortness .
- Regular coughing.
These symptoms are all together called asthma attacks along with chest pain.
Causes of Asthma Attack –
The main causes of Asthma are very common. There are environmental factors which trigger Asthma such as –
- Air pollution.
- Allergens
- Pollen exposure.
- Toxins.
- Smoking
- Fumes from automobiles.
- Dust from woods.
- Pesticides etc. .
Asthma management –
There is no cure for asthma but preventive measures can be taken to improve.
- Avoid cigarette smoking.
- Wear a mask while moving outdoors to be safe from air pollution, pet and pollen allergens etc. .
Treatment and medication – Use of prescribed medicines and inhalers from doctors . Anticholinergic drugs such as ipratropium can be used.For children inhalers are safer medication.
Bronchodilator –
It is a substance or medicinal drug which helps in dilating bronchi and bronchioles. It helps to reduce resistance in respiratory passage. Some bronchodilators are naturally within one’s body . While some are in the form of medicine and inhalers.
